Fresh Sheet: June 1, 2016

Hello, June!

Join us WEDNESDAY in the Terwillegar Recreation Center Parking Lot from 4:00-7:30 

June is a wonderful time at market, and is when the early summer produce comes from the fields. Whether it's spinach, strawberries, radishes or rhubarb, remember to pick up some of those fresh sping produce items at market this week to make a delicious salad or crumble!

The Sprouts Program for kids continues this week! Children between 4-12 will receive a $2 token every week to spend with our fruit and vegetable vendors. This week, our Sprouts recipe is May the Sauce Be With You. You can pick up your copy of the recipe at the Sprouts table when you check in! For more information on the Sprouts Program, click here

Our friends from No Excuses will be on-site leading a Zumba class for the whole family! We will also have a bouncy castle on-site for some family entertainment, along with our balloon artists, hopscotch, and face painter. 

The Southwest Edmonton Farmers' Market aims to enhance and support our vibrant community. Check out how to engage with your neighbours this week! 

The Edmonton Public Library will be in the Community Tent this week, providing information about all of the benefits of having a library card and chatting about the programs available at the Riverbend Branch. They have lots of great stickers, pins and other swag for kids, so stop by for something fun!

 

AIG Produce Osoyoos will be joining us this week with cherries, apples, strawberries and apple chips.
Steve and Dan's Fresh B.C. Fruit will be bringing apples, pears, strawberries, as well as their dehydrated apples and sparkling apple juice. 


 
Dargatz Family Farm has a variety of fresh produce, including carrots and potatoes, along with herb and tomato planters, eggs and preserves
Holden Colony will be bringing a variety of vegetables, eggs and preserves.
Lactuca Urban Farm will be bringing their hyperlocal mix (salad greens), arugula, garlic scallions, and edible florals. They are Edmonton's first urban farm, having started in back yards around the city and now growing on an one-acre farm near Northlands. 
S4 Greenhouses will be bringing their fresh greenhouse veggies.

Effing Seafoods will have a variety of fish, along with oysters that have only been out of water for 48 hours!
Jerky Jerky will be bringing a variety of dried jerky products. They always have samples to try, so be sure to say hello! 
Sunworks Farm, a certified organic and certified humane farm, will have their fresh chicken – wholes and all cuts along with their beef and pork cuts.  


Calico Baking will  have Laurel's lemon scones, almond croissants, and savoury whole wheat croissants with either spinach & feta or Irving's ham and Swiss.
Celebrate, Gluten Free is the perfect option for those with gluten sensitivities. Lee-Anne has introduced bagels to her lineup of gluten-free baked goods, and they've been a hit!
Confetti Sweets is our resident specialty cookie vendor at SWEFM and will be serving up their delicious varieties this week. 
Fresh 2 Share will be bringing swiss braided breads and a variety of other baked goods including meringues. 
Prairie Mill Baking Co. makes all of his bread loaves and cinnamon buns right in our neck of the woods!
Sweet Stuff will be bringing her delicious cupcakes, croissants, and cookies to market. 


 
Bo & Marrow will be bringing their sippable bone broth in Classic Beef,  Classic Chicken, Flora to sealing, Yo Mama, and Pho Real. Their Flora to Sealing and Yo Mama broths are both made with infused Chinese herbs.

Café Bel-Air will be bringing fresh, handmade popsicles to market. All of Cafe Bel-Air's popsicles are free of gluten and tree nuts, and they have vegan options available as well!
Crafty Cooks will be bringing frozen soups, pastas, and other delicious take-home meals. Stop by their tent to sample their Prime Rib Barley, Smokey Chickpea, and Red Lentil soups!
Cravings Gelato will be featuring three gelato pops this week: Blueberry, lemon, and blueberry yogurt. Kids under 10 years old get free pops while quantities last!
Honest Dumplings is joining SWEFM again with their handmade dumplings in delicious flavours like Maple Pork Belly, Mixed Mushrooms with Truffle Oil, and Spicy Tofu with Peanuts!
Jamaican Chefmon will be bringing his Jamaican food this week, including Jamacian patties, condiments and more. 
Melodi's Kitchen is our favourite Turkish food vendor and will be bringing all of their popular dishes for you to try. 
Mini Kitchen specializes in delicious Indian and Thai food. Their samosas and butter chicken are absolutely delicious!
O'Delight will be bringing their homemade Moroccan foods
Pamoda Tea formely known as Herbal Approach, is a specialty tea vendor that specializes in hand blended teas. Their Black, Green and White tea blends start with premium quality Ceylon tea which are exclusivly imported for Pamoda tea. 
Sweet and Spicy is back this week with their hand-blended spice mixes, sauces, salsas and jellies. 
Square 1 Coffee will be serving up fresh coffee and selling bags of coffee beans from craft roasters around Western Canada and United States.  
Thai Sab Food Co. will be bringing a wide variety of Thai foods, including curries, coconut rice, spring rolls, soups, and mango sticky rice.  
Theo's Greek Kouzina bringing their well-loved greek dips and treats to market this week.
Urban Pierogies will be joining us for the first time this week with their fresh pierogies in unique flavour combinations. 
Wilmar Farms will be back with their healthy hemp products for the kitchen and your skin. This week, ask them about the history of hemp in Canada- it's one of the oldest agricultural products!
 
Bully Food Truck will be serving up drool-worthy comfort food using fresh and local ingredients. 
Explore India is joining us at market this week with their fresh Indian food. 
Fat Franks will be ready to serve you their delicious hot dogs and smokies with all the fixings! 
La Poutine will be joining us with their hand-cut fries and fresh poutine.  

Original Canadian Kettle Corn, a farmers' market staple, will be here this week satisfying all of your cravings for this summer favourite!
Yellowbird Cafe Truck will be back at SWEFM this week with their friendly smiles and delicious Asian fusion cuisine.  

Ada's Soap Shop will be back with us this week with his luxurious handmade bath and body products. 
Carmen's Jewelry is joining us again this week with her leather handmade jewelry. 
Cheeky, the Cloth Diaper Company will be at market with their environmentally-friendly cloth diapers, wetbags and nursing pads. This week, they're featuring a Cloth Wipes Gift pack: 3 organic cloth wipes, all natural bum spray and a carry tote for your wipes and spray. Perfect for on the go!  
Dazzling Designs by Archana will be joining us this week with her gorgeous hand-sewn dresses, tops, pants, and accessories, as well as her hand-painted jewelry. 
Marigold Greenhouses will be bringing over 50 types of herbs, along with bedding plants and succulents. Children can use their Sprouts tokens to get a fun food plant like chocolate mint at this stall!
Ruby Tuesday Pet Designs will be joining us this week with their pet clothes, beds, and furniture. 
Skinchantment will be bringing facial oils, facial sprays, dry masques, bath salts and beard oils available this week. This week, all of their bath salts will be 25% off. All of Skinchantment's products are vegan, all natural and made with organic ingredients.

The Southwest Edmonton Farmers' Market launches for our sixth season this Wednesday, and we could not be more excited for another summer of fresh food, beautiful crafts, sunny evenings and a great community. This is our biggest season yet, with over 18 new vendors for you to explore, along with all of your old favourites.

Our friends from the TRAC Community Run/Walk and the Edmonton Youth Talent Show will be in the Community Tent this week, providing information about these two fun community events and how to get involved.

Lactuca Urban Farm will be joining us for the first time this week! They grow all of their produce on a small farm by Northlands and specialize in hyper-seasonal mixed greens. 
S4 Greenhouses will be bringing their fresh greenhouse veggies. This week, try their cherry tomatoes, mini peppers and mini cucumbers for lunches. They're healthy and yummy bite size veggies, ready to wash and pack – no cutting necessary!

Effing Seafoods is a new vendor at SWEFM specializing in B.C. seafood. He'll have a variety of fish, along with oysters that have only been out of water for 48 hours!
Jerky Jerky will be bringing a variety of dried jerky products. They always have samples to try, so be sure to say hello! 
Sunworks Farm, a certified organic and certified humane farm, will have their fresh chicken – wholes and all cuts along with their beef and pork cuts.  This week, All of their Turkey Mettwurst is now only $5/package!  Mettwurst is a savory sausage and one of their family’s favorites.


Auntie Jean's Fudge is new at our market this season, and will be bringing a wide variety of flavours of her popular handmade fudge. She uses local ingredients whenever possible, and loves to use ingredients from her own garden, like in her rhubarb and raspberry fudges!
Calico Baking will  have Laurel's lemon scones, almond croissants, and savoury whole wheat croissants with either spinach & feta or Irving's ham and Swiss.
Their feature bread this week is Alberta Sourdough, a multigrain pan bread featuring local grains and seeds.

Whether you're looking for a fantastic cinnamon bun or the best sourdough in Edmonton, Owen has a loaf of bread with your name on it!
