There's no doubt about it: it takes a community to make a market flourish and for it to be successful.
And our market is no exception. From the farmers to the producers, from the food trucks to the growers, from the craftsmen to the artists, from the community league volunteers to the market volunteers, and from the board directors to the Terwillegar Rec Centre planners, there are many people working very hard behind the scenes to make our third market season a terrific success.
I want to draw your attention to something that is very unique about our market. The Southwest Edmonton Farm
ers' Market is an NPO organization and our intent is to promote the overall health of our community by creating a vibrant gathering place where connections can be made and where people can get to know one another and spend time with their families, friends and neighbours.
It is also a very special market because it has community businesses that back the market with generous financial support. Businesses in our community tend to do well, and the very special ones... the ones who share our vision of the way a community can and should be... desire to give something back to the community that supports them. I have found working behind the scenes and seeing, first hand, the level of generosity and community support that some of the local businesses give to be both humbling and inspiring!
Innovation Physical Therapy: Tony is very pleased to be on board as our market market sponsor this year. In his words, the community has been very good to him over the years and he really wanted to give something back.
Servus Credit Union: Generously supporting our market as a platinum sponsor for three years, Servus has believed in the market and helped to get it off the ground and supported it all along the way.
Ron Dickson & Associates: A well known real estate agent in our community, Ron is excited to be on board the Southwest Edmonton Market as a platinum level sponsor this year and will be out every other Wednesday to meet and support the people in our community.
TRAC: Our parent, so to speak. The Terwillegar Riverbend Advisory Counsel provides the umbrella under which our market falls and it promotes and supports our efforts in the community.
Dr. Darcy Dietz: Dr. Dietz is a local orthodontist who has been working in our community for many years. With a tremendous interest in food and food culture, and a desire to give something back to our community, Darcy is back supporting our market as a silver level sponsor this year.
We encourage you to say a big thank-you to these supporters when you come into contact with them in your day-to-day lives. Without their tremendous support, our market would not be what you see it to be today: a wonderful gathering place where the community spirit and the local economy come together and support each other, bringing the community spirit alive!
